Foot suction valves are designed to fit into the intake or bottom end of a suction line to keep the suction hose submerged and fitted with a filter screen to prevent large debris entering the pipe and pump system and help prime centrifugal pumps.
The FVF (Flanged) DN50 to DN200 and FVT (Threaded) 2" and 21/2" BSP/NPT foot check valve incorporates the filter strainer and an internal check valve or non-return valve to help prime centrifugal pumps and maintain pump prime. The internal check valve has been cleverly designed to be reliable, V ring self long life sealing and to provide a high flow area to ensure minimal head loss and are hydro-statically tested to 12 bar for cast and ductile iron and 20 bar for 304 and 316 stainless steel.
The FV Foot Valve can be easily dismantled in the field if required and are manufactured from the highest quality heavy-duty precision machined materials to ensure market leading performance.

There are many manufacturers of foot valves in the market today and most users will experience the same problems of either loss or problems with centrifugal pump prime along with debris ingress and filter blockage that will all cause loss of suction or prime causing damage to most centrifugal or piston pumps that are synonymous with water suction systems especially in dirty water, drainage and raw sewage suction systems.
The FTF and FVF suction valve will keep the suction pipe submerged in the tank or well, the robust stainless steel filter screen provides long lasting debris ingress protection with an internal check valve helping to prime and keep the pump primed. However the significant advantage being that these valves are fitted with a mechanical lever operated back flush system that allows users to back flush the suction valve whilst still submerged to unblock and clean the filter head. See the lever on the adjacent picture.
As the foot valve will be continually submerged under water and probably out of view it will not be readily accessible to view and inspect, therefore any warning will either be lack of flow or strange noises from the suction pump, so it is very important to select a good quality FV series foot valve to protect your suction system. Cheap foot valves will work for a while but users need to consider both the additional costs of loss of production, labour, shipping, time and hardware costs of replacing a damaged or defective pump.
The FV foot valve is a rugged cast iron, ductile iron or stainless steel construction with drop tight resilient sealing to guarantee no loss of suction, high flow and a unique integrated back flush system.
