Solid State cyclic, single shot and delay timers are used for simple automated ON/OFF control for solenoid valves, typically they fit directly between the solenoid valve coil and electrical DIN connector and come with a range of either adjustable Time ON (Solenoid Valve Energised) and Time OFF (Solenoid Valve De Energised) or fixed timing cycles or schedules according to specific customer needs.
Typical Cyclic timers will provide LED Power ON and LED Power OFF indication, Manual Test button and most quality solid state cyclic timers will individually handle a voltage range from 24 volts to 250 volts with a current through put to the solenoid valve of up to 10 Amps.
Attention also needs to be focused on the Solenoid Valve coil / DIN Connector type and orientation. Obviously, as these solid state cyclic timers fit between the coil and electrical connector, they need to be the same DIN 43650 standard.
Read and buy a full range of standard and digital of solenoid timers here...
Typically, there are 2 common industrial standard sizes
DIN 43650B rectangular fitment. | |
DIN 43650A square fitment |
The Cyclic Solid state timer on the left has the square DIN 43650A fitment and standard 0.5 to 10 second Power
ON and adjustable 0.5 to 45 minute OFF cycle, But note the earth terminal is at 12 O Clock.
You need to specify if you require an alternative orientation at 6 O Clock or even laterally at 3 or 9 O Clock. The Timer on the right-hand side has been optimised to work Horizontally.
There are an unlimited range of time sequences available, however we have detailed below the most commonly requested.
Repeat Cycle TimerUpon application of power, the timer resets, enters the ON state for a period T1, then switches OFF for a period T2. This cycle repeats until power is removed.

0.5 to 45 minutes (as above) | 0.5 to 10 Seconds | TEC22 |
25 to 150 minutes | 0.5 to 10 Seconds | TEC22N02 |
0.5 to 45 Minutes | 20 to 300 milli Seconds | TEC22N03 |

0.5 to 60 Minutes | 0.3 to 5 Minutes | TEC22N05 |
As you can see on the left-hand side
Timers can also be available with complete lateral design
i.e. display and adjustment information is also lateral
and can also come in a range of other colours and custom logo's for OEM's (Original equipment Manufacturers).
There are also a range of solid state timers offering single shot, delay time, delay repeat cycle, single cycle timers also available. Detailed below are the technical parameters of these more specialists solid state timers as a helpful guide.
Single Shot TimerUpon application of power, the timer resets, enters the ON state for a period T, then switches OFF indefinitely. |
|
Delay TimerUpon application of power the timer resets, enters the OFF state for a period T, then switches ON indefinitely. |
|
Delayed Repeat Cycle TimerUpon application of power the timer resets and enters the OFF state for a period T2, then switches ON for a period T1. This sequence repeats until power is removed. |
|
Single Cycle TimerUpon application of power the timer enters the OFF state for a period T2, then switches ON for a period T1. It then switches OFF & remains OFF indefinitely. |
