During the manufacturing process and to comply with FDA standards these units will be manufactured using REACH 579 food grade grease and can be certified accordingly.

316 Stainless Steel Air Filter

The SSF200 Miniature 1/4" series and standard series USF02 1/4", USF03 3/8", USF04 1/2", USF06 3/4" and USF08 1" Stainless Steel Filters are designed to filter compressed air and remove the particles, pipe scale,dirt, rust and moisture which is normally found in most compressed air lines and systems. Air leaving a compressor is typically hot, dirty and wet which will damage and shorten life of downstream equipment such as valves and cylinders. Proper filtration is critical to maximise the dependability and lifetime of any compressed air system. Before the compressed dirty wet air can be used it needs to be filtered, cleaned and the water needs to be removed. This is done using a stainless steel filter when in harsh environments, most filters are fitted with filter elements typically 5 micron with options for 40 micron or less. Basically the lower the micron rating the small the holes in the element hence the cleaner the air will be. Water and dirt collects at the bottom of the filter bowl away from the filter element and can be either manually drained by turning the base drain plug release or if fitted with a semi automatic drain will automatically drain when the system falls below 0.5 bar. An option for fully automatic drain can also be used whereby the filter will automatically allow the waste water to drain when the water level rises to its trigger point regardless of system pressure.

NB. If you need very clean air it is advisable to use more than 1 filter in series, the first with 40 micron to remove larger particles the second with 5 micron - thus increasing filter life and maintaining flow.

Particle-removal filters should be chosen based on the following factors: Flow Scfm, acceptable pressure drop and pipe connection size.

A filter with bigger body size will create less initial pressure loss and provide longer operating life than a smaller filter with the same removal ratings.

Polycarbonate bowls are suitable for use in normal industrial environments, but should not be located in areas where they could be subjected to direct sunlight, an impact blow, nor temperatures outside of the rated range. Polycarbonate bowls should not be exposed to chlorinated hydrocarbons, ketone's, esters and some alcohols. They should not be used in air systems where compressors are lubricated with oils  such as phosphate ester and die-ester types. ISO VG32 is typically recommended.

Metal aluminium or stainless steel bowls are good to use where ambient and/or media conditions are not compatible with polycarbonate bowls. Metal bowls can resist the effects of most solvents, but should not be subjected to salt laden atmospheres or used where strong acids or bases are present. Metal bowl guards are recommended for all applications, and can even protect a polycarbonate bowl from damage. The Shako series bowls are all 316 stainless steel.

Stainless Steel Air Pressure Regulators

Shako SSR200 1/4" Miniature and USR02 1/4", USR03 3/8", USR04 1/2", USR06 3/4" and USR08 1" series Stainless steel pressure regulator is a pressure regulating valve that automatically shuts off the downstream flow of compressed air at a pre-set pressure. Stainless steel pressure regulators are used to allow high pressure air to be reduced and regulated down to safe and usable pressure. Outlet pressure setting is set manually adjusted using a top mounted control T bar and the current outlet downstream pressure is visible by the stainless steel pressure gauge. Regulators have a control spring which acts on a piston to regulate the incoming air pressure. The control spring rating determines the pressure adjustment range of the regulator. General purpose regulators are available in relieving or non relieving types. Relieving regulators can be adjusted from high to low pressure and will exhaust the excess downstream air pressure with a loud but normal hissing sound, a non relieving regulator will also adjust the downstream air pressure but will not vent the excess pressure and will wait until downstream demand or the trapped air will need to be vented downstream by another exhaust valve.

Stainless Steel Air Filter / Regulators.

Shako SSFR500 1/4" miniature and USFR02 1/4", USFR03 3/8", USFR04 1/2", USFR06 3/4" and USRF08 1" series Stainless steel Filter / Regulator combination units offers both compressed air pressure regulation from the top and piggyback air filtration and drying system mounted at the base. This not only saves on cost but more importantly greatly reduces the space required with two separate units and is by far the most popular combination for compressed air use, but typically slightly less flow compared to stand alone or separate units. These are all modular systems that allow for easy additional units to be installed such as additional filters, regulators or air take off plates so air can be drawn at different pressures or levels of filtration.

Stainless Steel Air Lubricators.

Shako SSL200 1/4" miniature and USL02 1/4", USL03 3/8", USL04 1/2", USL06 3/4" and USL 8 1" series Stainless steel lubricators injects an aerosol stream of oil into an air line to provide lubrication for the internal working parts of pneumatic tools, actuating cylinders, valves and motors. Compressed air enters the inlet port and passes over a needle valve orifice attached to an oil pick-up tube. Oil is pulled up using the venturi effect and is emitted as an aerosol at the outlet port. The needle valve is typically situated in a clear polycarbonate housing to aid oil flow rate adjustment. A lubricator should always be the last element downstream after all filter and regulator units. Typically air systems need to be drained and stopped to allow lubrication oil refilling however the Shako SSL and USL series allows oil to be replenished during normally operational use as the bowl is not pressurised.

Attention needs to be given to media, performance specifications, pressure adjustment control, pipe size and thread type, features and environmental parameters. Filter regulator lubricator assemblies are typically pre-packaged and pre assembled as a common configuration including pressure gauge and wall mounting bracket offering quick and easy installation reducing down time and fittings. These are typically a little more expensive than the piggyback Filter/regulator module but do offer increased flow rates in comparison and allow the option to take an air supply after filtration but before regulation for other higher pressure systems by installing a take off plate between the filter and regulator. Again attention needs to be given to flow rate requirements, acceptable pressure drop and port size.
